Podaca is situated in the foothills of Biokovo Mountain
Range, 25 km South of Makarska, halfway between Split and Dubrovnik. The old
settlement of Podaca was abandoned after the 1962 earthquake. A new settlement
was established beneath the old hamlet upon the coastline, which is adorned with
a multitude of wonderful pebble beaches and nudist coves. This beautiful stone
house has been carefully renovated, applying great attention to even the
smallest detail. The house is situated 350 m above sea level in a totally
peaceful environment in the old settlement of Podaca, 1 km away from the new
settlement, beaches, restaurants and shops. The old settlement of Podaca is
ideal for Robinsonian Tourism – no electricity or public water supply.
Nevertheless, this stone house has its own solar system and potable water
reservoir. Solar, gas and petroleum lamps, as well as torches and candles are
available. Private parking is located in front of this holiday house. Guests are
free to enjoy this 1st category (***) house completely to themselves. Should
assistance be required, service is available for delivery of supplies,
preparation of meals (including Dalmatian specialities), as well as for
organising day trips. A 10 km long hiking and bicycle path takes you from the
holiday house and leads you through the Biokovo Nature Park and Bacinska Lake
system. Guests are free to use the garden which contains an eco garden patch,
flower beds and Mediterranean vegetation. House pets are welcome.
